A long-awaited weekend with Mummy at home and off we went to our favourite 'day out' destination (Le PASS in Frameries) but when we got there it was CLOSED!

So instead we went for a wander...

...which turned out to be a scramble...

And guess what? The hill was HOT! Steaming! No kidding! My friend Denise investigated and apparently this is a known phenomenon in slag heaps (our hill stood beside a disused coal mine), where combustible material burns at 250 degrees just 1 metre under the surface, and 1000 degrees in the middle of the hill! Occasionally they explode! Innocent people are killed! That must be why in Belgium they put a public footpath there.
